Cake4Kindness Day 2023

21st November 2023, marked Cake4Kindness 1st birthday and to celebrate we invited communities to join us for Cake4Kindness Day, the first of our annual initiative.

A day to bake and connect with others to alleviate loneliness and social isolation. And through kindness share those bakes with their local homeless charities (or a charity of their choice) and build local relationships and help create a more inclusive, kinder and supportive community.

Below are a few of the many communities that participated in the initiative last year and have pledged to celebrate the day again in 2024. Take a read below and see how they celebrated Cake4Kindness Day 2023.

HC-One, the UK’s largest care home provider joined forces to support their local charities by baking and decorating cakes and donating these to homeless shelters and soup kitchens.

HC-One residents at their care homes and colleagues in head office supported Cake4Kindness Day by getting involved with the home baking of delicious cakes as well as decorating premade cakes to donate these to their chosen local charities, within their local communities, building up relationships and connections with others.

Their Chef teams put together a cake recipe book to support care homes with inspirational ideas. This can be downloaded via:

TLC Care, are dedicated as part of their values to giving back and Cake4Kindness was a great way to do this. On 21st November 2023 TLC Care Homes, Karuna Manor residents baked cupcakes and came together to decorate them, before heading to 'The Kind Café,' Harrow's First Ethical & Sustainable Café, aiding those facing food insecurity across London, to distribute the cakes to local underprivileged families.

Residents and families got together with the catering team of Newbury Grove Care Home, part of Care UK to celebrated Cake4Kindness Day. The catering team baked 100 cupcakes for the residents and families who came together and decorated them. After the cupcakes were decorated they were delivered to the Newbury Homeless Shelter 'Two Saints' Centre and distributed to service users at their soup kitchen that serves meals to those experiencing homelessness in the Newbury area.
